Ken Hunt's beautiful and flowing decorative scrollwork has developed from a full career in the English gun-making industry. Apprenticed as a gun engraver at James Purdey & Sons in 1950, he perfected his craft and went on to blur the difference between functional tools and fine art over a career spanning six decades. Referred to as "The Godfather of gun engraving" by The Shooting Sportsman magazine, Ken Hunt engraved shotguns and rifles are sort after and owned by world leaders, business magnates and royalty.

Contrasting the contemporary with the traditional, the ordinary with the extraordinary, Banana is inspired by natural forms with decorative leaf scroll through which faces emerge, subtly. Created from pen, etching and ink on a real fruit canvas Ken juxtaposes the permanence of carving and engraving with the unstoppable cycle of growth and decay.

The now spoiled subject has been preserved impeccably by micro-photography. By digitally stitching many images together, the details are magnified and convey the many textures of the embellished fruit. Available in 3 large formats it is easy to appreciate the flow of Ken's signature scroll from any distance.
